Good night's sleep

The only way to get ultimate rest is to rest ultimately in the only one who can provide ultimate security.

Proverbs 19:23 The fear of the LORD leads to life; one will sleep at night without danger. 

Stupid

 Life is hard when you act stupid.

Proverbs 26:3 (HCSB): A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the backs of fools.

Trust

Work hard and trust the Lord for success!

Proverbs 21:31 (HCSB): A horse is prepared for the day of battle, but victory comes from the Lord.

Lousy Leader

Proverbs 28:3 (HCSB): A destitute leader  who oppresses the poor is like a driving rain that leaves no food.

As farmers look to rolling rain clouds with hope for life giving, crop-growing rain, people look to their leaders to provide life-giving leadership. But a lousy leader, like a storm that destroys property, only bring despair upon those they rule over.

Boss Hog

Learn to share. The “boss hog” might end up the fattest pig, but we all know what happens; they end up slaughtered.

Proverbs 25:16 (HCSB): If you find honey,  eat only what you need; otherwise, you’ll get sick from it and vomit. 

Positively

Sometimes, in trying to be a positive influence, you can be positively hurtful.

Take your ball

It’s hard to win a game of life if you take your ball and go home!

Proverbs 18:1 (HCSB): One who isolates himself pursues selfish desires; he rebels against all sound judgment. 

The Git Up

For a person of integrity, the “Git Up” never ends!

Proverbs 24:15–16 (HCSB): Wicked man, don’t set an ambush, at the camp of the righteous man; don’t destroy his dwelling. Though a righteous man falls seven times, he will get up, but  the wicked will stumble into ruin. 

Dirty On Your Neighbor

When I was younger, we played a card game called “Dirty on Your Neighbor.” You won by cheating your neighbor, stacking the deck, and lying about what cards you played. That was a game, but when it comes to real life, don’t cheat your neighbor or take advantage of the defenseless, or you’ll end up losing.

Proverbs 23:10–11 (HCSB): Don’t move an ancient boundary marker, and don’t encroach on the fields of the fatherless, for their Redeemer is strong, and He will take up their case against you. 

Race to Grace

In life’a rat race, it’s important to stay in your employer’s good grace!

Proverbs 19:12 (HCSB): “A king’s rage is like the roaring of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.”
